Rahul Gandhi visiting Srinagar on August 9 to meet local leaders
This will be the Congress leader’s first visit to the erstwhile state since Article 370 was repealed
NEW DELHI — According to sources quoted by news agency ANI, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi would travel to Srinagar on August 9 to meet with party leaders and workers.
The lawmaker will also be present at the wedding event of son of Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) President Ghulam Ahmed Mir.
The Congress leaders may also visit Mata Vaishno Devi in Jammu on August 8, according to reports, although this has yet to be confirmed. He will also meet with party leaders and other people in Jammu.
Mr Rahul is also expected to pay a visit to Srinagar’s Kheer Bhawani and Hazratbal, according to reports. However, the final tour schedule of the Congress leader’s visit has not been made public by the JKPCC chief, when this report was filed.
This will be Rahul Gandhi’s first visit to Jammu and Kashmir since Article 370 was repealed on August 5, 2019 and the erstwhile state was downgraded and split into two union territories of J&K and Ladakh.
