The Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal also stated that renowned lawyers will be engaged to get the culprits punished.
NEW DELHI — Arvind Kejriwal, the chief minister of Delhi, on Wednesday visited the family of the Delhi Cantt girl, who was allegedly raped and murdered near a village in Purana Nangal in the Delhi Cantonment area.
Soon after his visit, the chief minister announced a magisterial probe into the rape and murder incident. He also offered Rs 10 lakh for the victim girl’s family.
“Met the girl’s family, shared their pain,” Arvind Kejriwal tweeted, adding, “Will give financial assistance of Rs 10 lakh to the family. Also, there will be a magisterial inquiry into the matter.”
He also stated that renowned lawyers will be engaged to get the culprits punished.
“Central government should take strict steps to improve law and order in Delhi, for which we will cooperate fully,” the Delhi CM further added.
Earlier, the Congress party came in support of the Delhi Cantt rape victim girl and criticized the Centre over the deteriorating law and order situation in Delhi concerning women’s security. The Party also blamed Home Minister Amit Shah for doing nothing.
It would not be out of place to mention here that following the filing of a FIR based on her mother’s allegation, a priest and three male employees of a cemetery in Delhi Cantonment in southwest Delhi were detained on Monday for allegedly raping and murdering a nine-year-old Dalit girl.
The girl was allegedly burned without her parents’ permission at Old Nangal cremation on Sunday night.
The event sparked outrage across the country, with many individuals demanding for harsher sanctions.
