Delhi Cantt Case: Congress demands justice for victim girl
Criticizing the Centre over the deteriorating law and order situation in Delhi concerning women’s security given the Delhi Cantt case, the Party blamed Home Minister Amit Shah for doing nothing.
NEW DELHI — The Congress party has come in support of a Delhi Cantt girl, who was allegedly raped and murdered near a village in Purana Nangal in the Delhi Cantonment area.
Criticizing the Centre over the deteriorating law and order situation in Delhi concerning women’s security, the Party blamed Home Minister Amit Shah for doing nothing.
“Home Minister is responsible for maintaining law and order in Delhi, but Amit Shah ji is working as Publicity Minister,” the Congress party said, adding, “Today, sisters and daughters have become insecure due to the negligence of the government.”
On the other hand, Congress leader and Member of Parliament, Rahul Gandhi met the parents of the victim Dalit girl and later posted a tweet.
He, while posting the video, said, “Only justice can help them bear this sorrow. Fast & complete justice is needed – I am with them in this.”
As per the details available, a priest and three male employees of a cemetery in Delhi Cantonment in southwest Delhi were arrested on Monday for allegedly raping and killing a nine-year-old Dalit girl, following the filing of a FIR based on her mother’s statement.
On Sunday night, the victim was allegedly burnt at Old Nangal cremation without her parents’ permission. The incident generated indignation across the country, both online and offline, with many people calling for stricter penalties.
