Swachh Bharat Mission drive held in J&K’s Shopian

The Indian Army also organized a medical camp in the area.

A Swachh Bharat Mission drive was held in Jammu & Kashmir’s Shopian district on Friday in which local people participated hugely.

The Swachh Bharat drive, organized by Municipal Committee Shopian and Indian Army’s 44 Rashtriya Rifles in Pahnoo and Chowgam areas, witnessed the cleanliness drives being carried out in local lanes, by lanes, roads and even mosques & shrines.

The Indian Army also held a medical camp in the area, which as per the Army, was highly appreciated by the local residents.

It is pertinent to mention here that Swachh Bharat Mission, Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, or Clean India Mission is a country-wide campaign initiated by the Government of India in 2014 to eliminate open defecation and improve solid waste management.

Phase 1 of the mission lasted till October 2019. Phase 2 will be implemented between 2020-21 and 2024-25. Watch the video to know more.
