Academic session begins in 9 new Sainik Schools approved by the Ministry of Defence (MoD)
Ministry of Defence approves setting up of additional 7 new Sainik Schools in partnership mode
Under the initiative of the Government for setting up 100 new schools in a partnership mode, a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) has been signed by the Sainik Schools Society with 12 such schools in the first round. After completion of admission of students for Sainik Schools pattern in 10 such schools, an academic session in 9 schools has started from August 01, 2022. Classes will start in one school in Karnataka from September 06, 2022. The remaining 2 schools greenfield schools are expected to start their operations from the next academic session.
In another milestone achievement, the Sainik Schools Society provisionally approved 7 additional schools in 2nd round of the initiative. The admission process in Sainik Schools pattern in these 7 provisionally approved schools is about to begin and the academic session is likely to start by the end of August 2022.
Admission to these newly approved Sainik schools will also take place in the same manner as done for schools approved in the first round. At least 40% of seats in the newly approved Sainik schools are to be filled through e-counselling of All India Sainik Schools Entrance Exam (AISSEE) qualified candidates and upto 60% through a test to be conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) for students already studying in these schools, for which a test namely New Sainik School Entrance Examination 2022 (NSSEE-22) will be conducted by NTA in mid of August.
