Secretary, MoHUA chairs 5th meeting of Central Sanctioning and Monitoring Committee under PMAY-U 2.0
An additional 1.41 lakh houses approved, over 10 lakh houses sanctioned under the scheme The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) has sanctioned 1.41 lakh additional houses under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Urban 2.0 (PMAY-U 2.0). The decision was taken during the 5th meeting of the Central Sanctioning and Monitoring Committee (CSMC), chaired by Shri Srinivas Katikithala, Secretary, MoHUA, on 15th October 2025. With the latest approvals of 1,40,942 houses, the total number of sanctions under the PMAY-U 2.0 scheme is over 10 lakh. This reaffirms the Government’s commitment to ensure ‘Housing for All’. The meeting was held in Sankalp Bhawan, New Delhi, and was also attended by Shri Kuldip Narayan, Joint Secretary & Mission Director (JS&MD), HFA, MoHUA, Principal Secretaries from States/Union Territories (UTs), PMAY-U Mission Directors from different States/UTs, and senior officials of the Ministry. The proposals for the construction of houses have been approved across 14 States/UTs, namely Assam, Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Jammu & Kashmir, Puducherry, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Madhya Pradesh, Meghalaya, Haryana, Odisha, Uttarakhand, and Uttar Pradesh. India and Saudi Arabia Strengthen Cooperation in Chemicals and Petrochemicals Sector
A bilateral meeting was held between the Department of Chemicals & Petrochemicals, Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, Government of India, and the Ministry of Industry and Minerals, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The Indian side was led by Ms. Nivedita Shukla Verma, Secretary, Department of Chemicals & Petrochemicals. The Saudi delegation was led by H.E. Eng. Khalil bin Ibrahim bin Salamah, Vice Minister of Industry and Minerals. Saudi Arabia is India’s fourth largest trade partner, and India is Saudi Arabia’s second largest trade partner. Bilateral trade between the two countries reached USD 41.88 billion in 2024–25, with chemicals and petrochemicals contributing 10%, which is nearly USD 4.5 billion. The discussions focused on enhancing bilateral cooperation, promoting investments, and exploring new areas of collaboration in the Chemicals and Petrochemicals sector. State Bank of India (SBI) and National Investment and Infrastructure Fund (NIIF)join hands to provide a greater thrust to infrastructure financing
Mumbai, India: State Bank of India and National Investment and Infrastructure Fund (NIIF) have today inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to boost the availability of capital for infrastructure projects. The scope of the MoU includes equity investments, project funding, bond financing, renewable energy support, and take-out finance for operating assets. The objective of this initiative is to aid in filling the gap at a time when the availability of equity and debt financing for infrastructure has moderated. On the sidelines of the signing event, Rajnish Kumar, Chairman, SBI said, “Today on the auspicious occasion of 64 the Bank’s Day, SBI, and NIIF have joined hands to provide a suite of financing solutions to the Infrastructure sector. The initiative will address concerns relating to the availability of equity and long term debt funding options to large scale projects thereby stimulating infrastructure development”.
