Captured on Camera: Dramatic surrender of two militants in J&K
As per J&K Police, two newly recruited militants from the outfit Al-Badr laid down their arms during the cordon and search operation in Tujjar area.
SRINAGAR (J&K) —
A video has gone viral on social media sites including Facebook in which two militants can be seen responding positively to the offer of government forces who asked them to surrender.
The video, as per reliable sources, is from Tujjar area of Sopore town in Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla district where government forces including 22 Rashtriya Rifles had laid a siege on Thursday after receiving inputs about the militants’ presence.
As per J&K Police, two newly recruited militants laid down their arms during the cordon and search operation in Tujjar area.
The forces can be seen convincing the militant to surrender saying,“Bahar aa jao, aap ko kuch nahi hoga bete.” (Come out son, we mean no harm.)
“As the location of the militants was established, their family members were called in to persuade them to surrender and both the militants obliged,” a local police official said.
As per local media reports, both these militants (names withheld) from Sopore had recently joined militant outfit Al-Badr.
Inspector-General of Police, Vijay Kumar said that it is good to see young people shunning the path of violence and joining the mainstream.
