Afghan national arrested in Assam on suspicion of fake documents
The accused Afghan national Jerin Mohd has been sent to judicial custody. He denies the claim that his documents are fake.
Tezpur, Assam:
Assam police arrested an Afghan national for allegedly carrying fake documents. The youth has been identified as a 21-year-old Jerin Mohammed Lalak.
He was arrested by Assam’s Bishwanath Chariali police officials while trying to board a passenger bus from Bishwanath towards Lakhimpur.
Jerin Mohammed was arrested after police tracked his mobile phone.
Biswanath SP Lena Doley said, “The police arrested the youth on October 15. Today, he was sent to judicial custody for not being able to show the actual documents to the police though he showed the digital copies of passport and visa.”
As per reports, the Afghan National entered India on 4th December 2018 and engaged in the clothing business in different parts of India and Assam.
Jerin, while speaking to the media at the Biswanath Police station, Assam said,” All the documents that I am carrying are original. The statement that my documents are fake is a hoax. I had digital copies of my documents. However, the police wanted to check physical copies of my visa.”
However, if he has a disguised identity, it is questionable how has he been able to roam around Assam and throw dust in the eyes of Assam police for a long time now. It is mandatory to ask how he has been able to accomplish this run while running a business for such a long time without valid documents and a visa.
Bishwanath Police has registered a case against the Afghan national. He has appeared before the court and was sent to judicial custody.
