DD News Conclave on ‘Ease of Living’ to be telecast
Jal Jeevan Mission on course to provide every household with potable water supply by 2024, schemes now oriented towards Ease of Living for common man: Amitabh Kant
As part of‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’– celebrating India’s 75 years of glorious Independence, DD News is organizing a series of conclaves on themes reflecting policy initiatives taken to better the lives of the common man and build a new vibrant India. The DD News Conclave is a platform, bringing together eminent dignitaries, policymakers, and domain experts to provide insights and their perspectives on the execution and impact of policy initiatives and the way forward. The Conclave is expected to emerge as a major thought platform, and offer a blueprint of key ideas guiding major Government initiatives across the country via Doordarshan’s pan-India presence.
The first Conclave is being held on‘Ease of Living’ with the keynote address delivered by Shri Amitabh Kant, CEO, NitiAayog, and the session moderated by Shri ChandrajitBannerjee, Director General of CII. A panel of experts including Prof. Sachin Chaturvedi, Economist and DG, RIS, Dr. Nupur Tiwari, Associate Professor, IIPA, and Dr.Charan Singh, Chief Executive of EGROW were part of the Conclave. A vibrant studio audience comprising of Startup Founders, academicians, school teachers, and young students interacted with the panelists during the session.
Keynote Address delivered by Amitabh Kant, CEO Niti Aayog
In his keynote address, Shri. Amitabh Kant said that through a focus on Ease of Living, the Government intended to ensure essential services like housing, electricity, potable water supply, gas connection, road connectivity, etc to reach every citizen. A few of these goals have already been achieved like Swachh Bharat Mission toilets for households, bank accounts under PM Jan Dhan Yojana and otherswhileJal Jeevan Mission, PM AwasYojana, Ujjwala 2.0, National Infrastructure Pipeline, Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission etc are ongoing projects that are being focussed upon with the goal of Ease of Living in mind. The NITI Aayog has also come out with the Ease of Living Index, which he said has brought in great transparency and has encouraged citizens to demand better services from their elected representatives.
Shri ChandrajitBannerjee said that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has been the biggest votary of ‘Ease of Living’ encouraging all Ministries to work towards the same. This has brought in a major attitudinal shift among both administrators and citizens, he said.

Prof. Nupur Tiwari said that Gram Swaraj Portal, Common Service Centres, and Gram Panchayat Development Programme have brought in a sea change in Panchayats across the country. Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Sachin Chaturvedi said that Ease of Living and Sustainable Development Goals are intrinsically linked and there is a paradigm shift towards Jan Bhagidari or people’s participation in the same. Dr.Charan Singh said that the Government’s Central Vista program is a boost to the economy and employment and that states should also invest in infrastructure to yield a multiplier effect for the economy. He also emphasized the role of startups in achieving the goal of a 5 trillion-dollar economy.
