UPSC Recruitment alerts are now available to institutions via email
In a major outreach initiative, the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has enabled a new facility for educational and professional institutions

“New initiative aims at wider outreach and improved candidate participation”, said Dr. Ajay Kumar, Chairman UPSC
In a major outreach initiative, the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has enabled a new facility for educational and professional institutions to receive direct email alerts about UPSC recruitment advertisements, relevant to their domains. UPSC undertakes recruitment to fill up various Group A/ Group B gazetted posts in various Ministries/ Departments of the Government of India and UTs from time to time, in addition to conducting regular examinations. Depending on the nature of duties, these recruitments require essential qualifications of educational and experience criteria. Additionally, desirable qualifications are also provided in many cases.
Speaking about the initiative, Dr. Ajay Kumar, Chairman Union Public Service Commission, said, “Apart from our regular examinations, UPSC receive recruitment requests from various Ministries and Departments, for various Government positions. In order to streamline and expedite the process, we are ensuring that the requests are received well in advance within 3 3-month window, from January to March, so that the process is planned in a better manner by clubbing similar recruitment cases and holding their common tests to complete the recruitment drive in a time-bound manner”.
The Commission receives over 200 recruitment proposals annually from various Ministries and Departments of the Government of India. These are subsequently advertised online after a detailed processing cycle. In 2025 alone, over 240 recruitment cases have already been received, ranging across medical, scientific/ engineering/ technical, legal, teaching, and specialised posts (management, finance, accounts, forensic audit, etc.), mostly at Group A and Group B Gazetted levels.
As of now, the Union Public Service Commission advertises its recruitment process through Employment News, UPSC’s official website, and UPSC’s official LinkedIn account. Speaking about initiative, Dr. Kumar said, “In the past, some disparities were observed in the number of applications we received for different posts. During the scrutiny of cases, sometimes the case becomes infructuous as no suitable applicant meeting the Recruitment Rules criteria is found.
Many cases receive disproportionately less number of applications. Sometimes the posts remained vacant or become infructuous during the interview stage as suitable candidates are not found by the Interview Board. In order to address these issues and reach out to the needy, eligible and qualified candidates, we are rolling out new outreach measures for our recruitment advertisements, whereby, among other things, it is planned to send email alerts/ updates to relevant institutions and organisations. These alerts would also be made available to other/ private institutions, whoever requests the same. We, at UPSC, want to ensure that merit is not left undiscovered simply due to a lack of information”.
Under the new outreach policy for recruitment posts following initiatives are planned:
- Email alerts would be sent to Universities, institutions, associations, professional / recognised bodies, etc.
- Email alerts would also be sent, on demand, to other institutions that send their request to UPSC, for receiving such alerts and updates. Such requests can be sent to ra-upsc[at]gov[dot]in.
- Official communications are sent to identifying Ministries and Departments, urging them to publicise recruitment advertisements on their websites and social media networks.
- UPSC advertisements are being shared on LinkedIn, and plans are underway to publicise them through the Public Broadcaster.
- A proposal to enable RSS feeds on the Commission’s website is also under consideration.
Institutions wishing to subscribe to the email alert service may send a request to ra-upsc[at]gov[dot]in with the subject line: “Subscription Request – UPSC Recruitment Alerts”.
