Tokyo Olympics – IOC President Thomas Bach Visits Athletes Village

International Olympic Committee’s (IOC) President, Thomas Bach, on Thursday got a chance to have a first glimpse of Athletes Village for Tokyo Olympics.

IOC Media’s official Twitter handle posted a photo of Thomas Bach visiting Athletes Village on Tuesday and the caption of the post read: “This is the place to be! President Bach gets his first glimpse of the Athletes’ Village for the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 #Tokyo2020.” Governor of Tokyo Yuriko Koike on Monday had met with Thomas Bach and said that Japan is fully committed to host safe and secure Olympics next year.

Koike added that Japan will set a new benchmark for future generations by hosting the Olympics economically.

Former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe had received the Olympic Movement’s highest award, the Olympic Order in Gold. Abe assisted with dominating the Matches for Tokyo in 2013.

He later showed up surprisingly at the closing ceremony of Olympic Games Rio 2016, dressed as Super Mario.

In September, a series of measures were agreed upon by the IOC Coordination Commission and the Tokyo 2020 Organizing Committee to make the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 fit for a post-crown world.
