Vice President greets the nation on the eve of Deepawali

The Vice President of India, Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu has greeted the people on the eve of Deepawali.

Following is the full text of his message-

“I extend my warm greetings and good wishes to the people of our country on the auspicious occasion of Deepawali, the festival of lights.

Celebrated with traditional fervour and zeal, Deepawali is associated with Shri Rama’s return to Ayodhya with Maa Sita and Laxmana after the exile of fourteen years. Signifying the victory of good over evil, the festival reaffirms our belief in the noble ideals of Shri Rama’s life.

Shri Rama is the embodiment of truth, Dharma, courage and compassion in our culture. The ‘Maryada Purushottam is revered as an ideal king, obedient son, invincible warrior and a role model for all.

Celebrations of Deepawali include the worship of Maa Lakshmi, the Goddess of Prosperity.

May this festival that brings light, harmony, prosperity and peace into our lives usher in a new enthusiasm to make our lives more fulfilling and bring happiness to everyone around us.”

“प्रकाश पर्व – दीपावली के पावन अवसर पर मैं अपने समस्त देशवासियों को हार्दिक बधाई और शुभकामनाएँ देता हूँ।

पारंपरिक हर्ष और उल्लास के साथ मनायी जाने वाली दीपावली का संबंध चौदह वर्ष के वनवास के बाद माँ सीता और लक्ष्मण के साथ श्रीराम के अयोध्या वापस लौटने से है। बुराई पर अच्छाई की विजय का प्रतीक यह त्योहार श्रीराम के जीवन के महान आदर्शों में हमारे विश्वास की पुष्टि करता है।

 श्रीराम हमारी संस्कृति में सत्य, धर्म, साहस और करुणा के अवतार हैं। ‘मर्यादा पुरुषोत्तम’ को आदर्श राजा, आज्ञाकारी पुत्र, अपराजेय योद्धा और सभी के लिए प्रेरणास्रोत के रूप में पूजा जाता है।

दीपावली के उत्सव में समृद्धि की देवी माँ लक्ष्मी की पूजा भी की जाती है।

मेरी कामना है कि हमारे जीवन में प्रकाश, सद्भाव, समृद्धि और शांति लेकर आने वाला यह त्योहार हमारे जीवन को अधिक संपन्न बनाने के लिए एक नए उत्साह का संचार करे और हमारे आस-पास के लोगों के लिए खुशियां लेकर आए।“
