Raksha Rajya Mantri Shri Ajay Bhatt reviewed the flood situation in Uttarakhand in a meeting with Director General Border Roads (DG BR), in New Delhi on August 31, 2021. Heavy monsoon rains triggered landslides that have blocked several highways.
Raksha Rajya Mantri Shri Ajay Bhatt inquired about the damage to Pithoragarh-Tawaghat road between kilometers 98 to 102 in a meeting with DG BR Lt General Rajeev Choudhary.
It is worth noting that the catchment area of the Kali river at Dharchula has suffered damage due to cloudbursts and incessant rains for the last 5-6 days.
Lt General Chaudhary apprised Shri Ajay Bhatt that along with BRO, the National Disaster Relief Force and the entire team of local administration are engaged in relief and rescue operations to provide succor to the affected. The Raksha Rajya Mantri Shri Ajay Bhatt directed DG BR that in such difficult times, the BRO should make every effort to restore connectivity with all its might. The DG BRO assured him that BRO will provide all possible help to the state government in the border areas.
