Kargil Vijay Diwas: Politicians across the board pay their tributes

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said that he salutes the sacrifice of soldiers of the Indian Army on the occasion of Kargil Vijay Diwas.

NEW DELHI — On the occasion of Kargil Vijay Diwas, politicians throughout the country from major political parties on Monday paid their tributes to the soldiers who lost their lives fighting the Kargil War.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said that he salutes the sacrifice of soldiers of the Indian Army.

“On the occasion of Kargil Vijay Diwas, many salutes to the courage, valor and sacrifice of the brave soldiers of the Indian Army, who laid down their lives to protect the motherland. Jai Hind,” Delhi CM said.

On the other hand, his deputy, Manish Sisodia said, “On Kargil Vijay Diwas, I bow to the immortal sacrifices of those who laid down their lives to keep the head of Mother India high. Jai Hind.”

Aditya Uddhav Thackeray, serving as Cabinet Minister of Tourism and Environment for the Government of Maharashtra, also expressed his tributes. “Remembering the sacrifices of our brave Jawans who protected our Motherland. My humble tributes and salute on Kargil Vijay Diwas. Jai Hind! Vande Mataram!” he posted on Twitter.

Earlier, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi also paid tributes to the ‘fighters’ who laid down their lives during the Kargil War of 1999.

“Heartfelt tribute to every fighter who laid down his life in the dignity of our tricolour. We will always remember this supreme sacrifice of you and your families for the security of the country. Jai Hind. #KargilVijayDiwas,” the Congress leader posted on his official Twitter handle.

Pertinently, Kargil Vijay Diwas is celebrated on 26 July every year in honour of the Kargil War’s Heroes.

This day is celebrated in the Kargil sector and the national capital New Delhi, where the Prime Minister of India pays homage to the soldiers at Amar Jawan Jyoti at India Gate every year.

Functions are also organized all over the country to commemorate the contributions of the armed forces.
